Kavalthurai Ungal Nanban was originally slated for theatrical release on March 31, this year.
The much delayed 'Kavalthurai Ungan Nanban' (KUN) directed by filmmaker RDM (erstwhile known as Ranjith Manikandan) is all set to hit the theatres.
This emotional drama featured popular Sun Music VJ Suresh Ravi in the lead. The director and the actor had previously collaborated for a comedy caper titled 'Adhi Maedhavigal'.
KUN was earlier scheduled for March release, but postponed due to COVID-19 lockdown. While it was said that Creative Entertainers and Distributors had acquired the rights for the film, now film makers Vetrimaaran has the rights to present the film.
'Kavalthurai Ungal Nanban' is produced by Bhaskaran B, Rajapondiyan P and Suresh Ravi under the banners BR Talkies Corporation and White Moon Talkies.
The film will tell the tale of how the police treats civilians and are not based on Sterlite protests that took place last year. The story also reflects the plight of the incident's innocent victims. The film is intended to portray the reality without any absurdity.Apart from Suresh Ravi, the film stars include Raveena Ravi, Mime Gopi, Supergood Subramani, Sharath Ravi and Kathiravan Balu. Mime Gopi who plays the menacing cop in the film said once: "Director RDM's story is hard-hitting and I should thank him for giving me a pivotal role. I should appreciate actor Suresh Ravi who worked hard for his role in the film. Personally, the climax action episode is memorable for me although I got hurt in the action scene".
Suresh Ravi, the lead actor said: "When I was working in Sun Music, came to know about director RDM and we discussed a lot of scripts in the last eight years. Glad that now we have made a good film and it is getting ready for release. From the beginning, we were clear that our film's theme should talk about the brutality of the police force so we haven't showcased the positive side of them. I should also thank Dhananjayan sir for releasing the film".
The technical crew of Kavalthurai Ungal Nanban includes Aaditya and Sooriya for scoring the music, K.S Vishnushri for cinematography and Vadivel and Vimalraj for editing. The film has received a UA certificate, and was adjudged the Best Film Jury at the Indian World Film Festival this year.
