Vijay's attendance at SP Balasubramaniam funeral creates fan fights in twitter
Vijay shared screen space with SP Balasubramaniam in 'Priyamanavale'. Fans have attacked Ajith Kumar and Rajinikanth for skipping the funeral.
Late Legendary singer SP Balasubramaniam's final rituals and funeral was held at his Red Hills farm house in Thiruvallur district of Tamil nadu which is 50 KMS far from Chennai.
SPB’s body was kept at his farmhouse for the general public to pay their respects. The funeral began at 11am. Hundreds of people gathered to bid a teary farewell to the musical genius, who is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Thalapathy Vijay, an ardent fan of SP Balasubrahmanyam paid his last respects by attending the funeral. Vijay consoled SPB's son S P Charan with folded hands and a hug. Vijay was the only A-list actor attended the funeral of the legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam.
The pictures of the actor at the funeral and consoling the deceased's son SP Charan have gone viral among the Kollywood fans. The gesture of actor Vijay visiting the funeral irrespective of COVID 19 risk, was being hailed by his fans in social media platforms. Director-actor Venkat Prabhu posted picture of Vijay paying tribute to the singer captioning "Respect".
Doctor Sumanth Raman, a TV personality, political analyst and a sports anchor, quoted Venkat Prabhu's tweet and posted message criticizing other actors who did not attend the funeral of the singer. He wrote, "When those who benefited a lot more from #SPB songs than @actorvijay chose to stay away this was a heartwarming gesture by Vijay. Respect indeed." in his tweet.
This has paved the way for a negative trend on social media sites where the fans of Vijay are attacking other actors who failed to show up at SPB's funeral. Notably, Rajinikanth and Ajith Kumar have come under the scanner since they were considered to be close to the legendary singer.
SPB was a good friend of Rajinikanth during his career of four decades and the singer had given plenty of hit numbers to the superstar. Considered to be a lucky charm, intro songs to the superstar in movies use vocals of SPB, which always struck a chord with the viewers.
On the other hand, it was SPB, who helped Ajith in his early days of film career. In an interview SPB revealed that he had introduced Ajith to the cine industry, getting him a role as a hero in Tollywood through a Telugu producer. Moreover SP Charan and Ajith were classmates and Ajith used to wear SP Charan's outfits for sentimental reasons for ad shoots.
Meantime, Sumanth's tweet irked the fans of Ajith and Rajinikanth who said that their presence on SPB's funeral will cause a crowd gathering which will lead to more COVID 19 cases. Rajinikanth and Ajith fans trashed Sumanth for his tweet on blaming other actors.

There is no disrespect meant to anyone. It is their choice to go or not especially with Covid around. I am just pointing out a fact. But why are only fans of one particular star getting agitated and abusive?? So many didn't go.— Sumanth Raman (@sumanthraman) September 26, 2020
Sir, you are a doctor right— Mark Antony (@hunmid12) September 26, 2020
You know the pace at which corona is spreading and still you want to downgrade the people who are not visiting, showing the agenda
you could have simply shown respect to vijay but just to grab attention you are adding negative things. You can be better
U need fight between rajini, kamal, ajith and vijay fans right? Unnecessary tweet now. Respect for vijay, but u r such an influencer, please delete this tweet.— Arun Mohan Chennai (@_arun_chennai_) September 26, 2020
What do you mean sir? Create a mass gathering for funeral & spread more COVID19? Didn't expect such tweet from you! Shame!— Swaminathan (@snathancv) September 26, 2020

Stop this petty politics Sumanth. In this pandemic situation, it is best for everyone and also for Shri SPB family for everyone to pray for his soul at their place. So, don’t talk as if you know everything and whatever you saying is right. Stop this comparison of one with another— venkatraman (@venkatramane) September 26, 2020
