Ajith's 'Valimai' is one of the most anticipated movie of the year. After giving back to back hits 'Viswasam' and 'Nerkonda Paarvai' last year, expectations are on high for 'Valimai' when Ajith teamed up with 'Nerkonda Paarvai' director H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor.

'Valimai' shoot came to halt like any other movies world-wide due to coronavirus pandemic. Sources say fifty percent of shoot is complete and the rest will happen only after the coronavirus pandemic ends as per the decision of the hero to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.

While theatres shut their doors, small budget movies following the trend of releasing the films on OTT platforms. There were talks in Bollywood circles that producer Boney Kapoor is likely to release all his upcoming films on OTT. 'Vakil Saab' with Pawan Kalyan in the lead and 'Maidaan' starring Ajay Devgan are the other two movies from Boney Kapoor's production house 'Bayview Projects LLP' that are in making. Clearing the air on the film’s release on OTT platforms directly, Boney Kapoor confirmed that it will not be released on OTT platforms directly.

In his recent interview Boney Kapoor has put a full stop to such talks by stating "I strongly believe there are certain films, which are meant for larger-than-life, theatrical experience, and so, they should go to cinema halls first. As for me, I am extremely excited to bring my (new) films to the big screen.”.This conforms, all his three upcoming films will release on theatres first.

'Valimai' also stars Huma Qureshi and Karthikeya in key roles and has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film was announced to be released for Diwali 2020 but seems tough now since there are a lot of works to be completed.
