Actor Ranjith who has done more than 50 movies in Tamil and Malayalam, is now turned his career towards small screen soap operas.

Ranjith debuted in Kollywood through KS Ravikumar's 'Pon Vilangu'. He has done some lead roles and supporting roles during 90s and 2000s. The actor is well known for movies like 'Bharathi Kannamma', 'Maru Malarchi', 'Pandavar Bhoomi', 'Nesam Pudhusu' etc. Not having much opportunity in movies, the actor later entered into politics.

Now, 'Senthoora Poovey', a new mega-serial is featuring actor Ranjith in a lead role, which was scheduled for an April launch on Star Vijay, began airing from June 8.

The story revolves around Duraisingam played by Ranjith, a middle-aged (45) widower, who has two beautiful little daughters Kayal and Kani. Duraisingam had not thought about a re-marriage after his wife's death. However, circumstances pushes Duraisingam to marry young age woman Roja, his daughters' school teacher despite a big age difference between them. The story revolves around them trying to get along and finally fall in love with each other.

While TV soaps shoot had been stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the TN governent recently permitted shooting for small screen contents, with the necessary safety precautions. As a result, most of the channels have now started to telecast as per their original program schedule.
