Nationwide several films including big budget movies lined up for a digital release over streaming platform, skipping the traditional theatrical release, leads to tug of war between film makers and exhibitors.

Becoming unavoidable, Direct-to-OTT will become reality in the near future due to the advancement of technology and limited number of screens when numerous movies waiting to be released for years, but most in the industry feel there is no threat to the big screens.

Recently Jyothika starrer Ponmagal Vandhal, and Keerthy Suresh starrer Penguin announced their their digital premiere on Amazon Prime. Following that now another long pending Mamakiki starring Ramesh Thilak now have direct release on Zee5 on May 30, confirmed by Zee5 in it's official twitter handle.

Directed by five directors namely G Radhakrishnan, Vadivel, Shree Karthick, Karthik Siva, and Sameer Bharat Ram, the movie is about four college friends studied together. After five years of graduation, they meet at a reunion in college. What has happened in everyone's lives in the 5 years forms the structure of the film.

Apart from Ramesh Thilak, director Nalan Kumarasamy, actors Swaminathan, Manas, Preetha Anandan, late Cheenu Mohan, and Madhuvanti Arun have significant roles. Mamakiki also has five composers on board – Vishal Chandrashekhar, Jakes Bejoy, MS John, R Surya Prasadh, and KalaCharan

MaMaKiKi is produced by Sameer Bharat under the banner of 'Super Talkies'. MaMaKiKi went on floors on 2017, finihsed shoot and have teaser release on 2018 by filmmaker Gautham Menon on his Ondraaga Entertainment Youtube channel, which is now offline on youtube. We expect new Zee5 premiere launch teaser soon.
