Karthik Sivakumar (Karthi), Son of actor Sivakumar and younger brother of actor Surya, is celebrating his 43rd birthday today. On this special occasion lets his top 10 must watch movies.

The actor who started his film career as an assistant director to filmmaker Mani Ratnam in 'Aayutha Ezhuthu', made on screen debut through Ameer's 'Paruthiveeran'. By choosing the right story and characters, the actor gave back to back hits down the year. Karthi's debut performance as a careless village ruffian was widely appreciated by critics and he won Filmfare award for best actor. Priyamani won National award for best actress for this romantic drama directed by Ameer. Inspired by a true incident in a still largely caste-driven countryside, Sultan uses a real village near the renowned temple town of Madurai in southern India and 60 non-professionals as a large part of the cast.

Set against a rural backdrop, this double action thriller revolves around Ratnavel Pandian, a tough policeman who cleans up the village, which is virtually ruled by criminal elements.
Spinning a story of a love gone horribly wrong in a community whose people settle scores in bloody killings, the director lets prevailing customs and festivals form a backdrop to a powerful narrative.

Written and directed by Selvaraghavan, Aayirathil Oruvan released in 2010 said to be first part of the two part period adventure drama. The movie stars Karthi, Reemma Sen and Andrea Jeremiah in the lead with Parthiepan playing a pivotal role. Kaashmora is a con artist gets locked up with his family inside a bungalow haunted by 14 ghosts and the only way to get out is to fulfil their wishes. The plot unfolds through multiple flashbacks to ancient times, when Raj Nayak was a fearless and bloodthirsty warrior. Later it is about how Kaashmora solve the riddle of this fearsome spirit and get his family out alive.

Vinoth, the movie is based on true events from the Operation Bawaria case, which involved the nefarious activity of dacoits and its eventual containment by Tamil Nadu police. Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh play the lead roles in this movie. Karthi packs a punch as Theeran and achieves the same earnestness that his brother Suriya brought forth in his earlier cop flicks Kaakha Kaakha and the Singam franchise. The actor received Filmfare and Edison award in the best actor category.

An honest police officer finds himself transferred again and again due to his sincerity. After his latest transfer, he comes across a file that involves a gang of ruthless thieves who loot and kill along the highway.

The movie is about a family-loving farmer, born as sixth son with five elder sisters, in a small town devotes himself to keeping his large family together despite his own dreams and pursuits, which include a romance with the niece of a murderer whom he had imprisoned and who is out for revenge.

Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film stars Karthi in the main lead role with Narain and Dheena in pivotal roles. Kaithi received highly positive reviews from critics who praised Karthi’s performance, Lokesh’s direction and the screenplay.

The film follows Dilli, a recently freed prisoner who is arrested due to suspicion while en route to meet his daughter for the first time in life. When a number of police officers are poisoned at a party following a drug bust, Inspector Bejoy enlists Dilli's help to drive the officers to hospital in a lorry, in exchange for seeing his daughter. Dilli, Bejoy and the lorry's owner find themselves in a chase with the criminals and must race against time to reach hospital and also save a police station about to come under siege.
