Inspired by a true incident in a still largely caste-driven countryside, Sultan uses a real village near the renowned temple town of Madurai in southern India and 60 non-professionals as a large part of the cast.

Set against a rural backdrop, this double action thriller revolves around Ratnavel Pandian, a tough policeman who cleans up the village, which is virtually ruled by criminal elements.

Aayirathil Oruvan (2010)

Written and directed by Selvaraghavan, Aayirathil Oruvan released in 2010 said to be first part of the two part period adventure drama. The movie stars Karthi, Reemma Sen and Andrea Jeremiah in the lead with Parthiepan playing a pivotal role. Though it received mixed reviews after long delay in release, the actors performance is appreciated by critics. The movie also won Filmfare's best supporting actor for Parthiepan. Fans are eager to see the second part of the movie.

Chandramouli, a famous archeologist, goes missing while on a research to Vietnam in order to search for any existence of the prince of the Chola dynasty. Naan Mahaan Alla (2010)

Written and directed by Suseenthiran, the movie stars Karthi, Kajal Aggarwal, Jayaprakash and Soori. Actor Vijay Sethupathi makes a cameo appearance in the film. In this suspence thriller, Karthi deliver a very raw performance of a guy who sets out avenge the death of his father by a local gang. The movie was lauded for his taut narration and highly realistic stunts.

Jeeva is a young man who lives a carefree, jobless life with his parents in Chennai. As he tries to convince his girlfriend Priya's father for their marriage, Jeeva realizes he needs to earn money and even takes on a job, but his honest and carefree attitude invites nothing but trouble. Paiyaa (2010)

Written, produced and directed by N. Linguswamy, the movie stars Karthi and Tamannaah. This muscial hit received positive reviews from critics and become a box-office hit.

The film follows the journey of two strangers – a jobless carefree man, living in Bangalore, and a woman with whom he has fallen in love. Upon the woman's request, he drives her to Mumbai, while a group of gangsters follow them, planning to kidnap the woman. Meanwhile, the man also has a past in the city and he goes there to sort it out.

Siruthai (2011)

Directed by Siva, Karthi played dual roles for the first time. Karthi has gone completely "mass" with ‘Siruthai’. The director earned 'Siruthai' Siva name after this movie. Though it is a remake, Karthi performance was well appreciated in the movie. Karthi is a natural when it comes to comedy, and the opening scenes featuring him and Santhanam are sure to bring in the laughs. And he is very convincing and eminently watchable as the fearless and almost indestructible Rathnavel Pandian too. The movie is a big commercial success.

Madras (2014)

Written and directed by Pa. Ranjith, the movie stars Karthi, Catherine Tresa, and Kalaiyarasan in the lead roles. Karthi has won best actor award at SIMMA and Filmfare.

This political drama is all about wall, which is a source of discontent between two political rivals. Kaali and his friend Anbu, who is a party worker, get embroiled in this clash, which only gets bloody thereafter.

Kaashmora (2016)

Written and directed by Gokul, Kaashmora is a supernatural action comedy film which features Karthi in dual roles for the second time after Siruthai as the protagonist and antagonist respectively alongside Nayanthara, Sri Divya and Vivek in the lead roles. Karthi has been given a big role in the film and he has delivered on multiple fronts: both as the anti-hero and the restless spirit. Karthi has done a lot of hard work and it shows.

Kaashmora is a con artist gets locked up with his family inside a bungalow haunted by 14 ghosts and the only way to get out is to fulfil their wishes. The plot unfolds through multiple flashbacks to ancient times, when Raj Nayak was a fearless and bloodthirsty warrior. Later it is about how Kaashmora solve the riddle of this fearsome spirit and get his family out alive.

Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017)

Written and directed by H. Vinoth, the movie is based on true events from the Operation Bawaria case, which involved the nefarious activity of dacoits and its eventual containment by Tamil Nadu police. Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh play the lead roles in this movie. Karthi packs a punch as Theeran and achieves the same earnestness that his brother Suriya brought forth in his earlier cop flicks Kaakha Kaakha and the Singam franchise. The actor received Filmfare and Edison award in the best actor category.

An honest police officer finds himself transferred again and again due to his sincerity. After his latest transfer, he comes across a file that involves a gang of ruthless thieves who loot and kill along the highway.

Kadaikutty Singam (2018)

Written and directed by Pandiraj , the film stars Karthi, Sayyeshaa, Arthana Binu with a supporting cast including Sathyaraj. This family action drama received Vikadan Cinema award for Popular film and SIIMA award for Best Director.

The movie is about a family-loving farmer, born as sixth son with five elder sisters, in a small town devotes himself to keeping his large family together despite his own dreams and pursuits, which include a romance with the niece of a murderer whom he had imprisoned and who is out for revenge.

Kaithi (2019)

Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film stars Karthi in the main lead role with Narain and Dheena in pivotal roles. Kaithi received highly positive reviews from critics who praised Karthi’s performance, Lokesh’s direction and the screenplay.

The film follows Dilli, a recently freed prisoner who is arrested due to suspicion while en route to meet his daughter for the first time in life. When a number of police officers are poisoned at a party following a drug bust, Inspector Bejoy enlists Dilli's help to drive the officers to hospital in a lorry, in exchange for seeing his daughter. Dilli, Bejoy and the lorry's owner find themselves in a chase with the criminals and must race against time to reach hospital and also save a police station about to come under siege.
