Few weeks back, it was a surprising announcement from Raghava Lawrence that one of his next projects is 'Chandramukhi 2' directed by P. Vasu and produced by Sun Pictures.
In his recent interaction with Ananda Vikatan, director P Vasu said that his soon to be commenced film Chandramukhi 2 with Raghava Lawrence is based on the evil king Vettaiyan played by Superstar Rajinikanth in the Ra Ra song.
"After the success of the original, I wanted to tell the conflict between Vettaiyan and Chandramukhi, their flashback story to the audiences through several segments. In the second part, a new family enters into the palace and how these two characters--Chandramukhi and Vettaiyan affect them forms the crux of the story", said Vasu.
Lawrence had donated the entire advance money for this film amounting to rupees three crores to the coronavirus relief funds of the state/central governments, FEFSi, Dancers Union, and the people of Royapuram. The shoot of Chandramukhi 2 will commence once the country returns back to normalcy from the COVID19 pandemic. Vasu is yet to confirm the cast and crew but the director has completed the script work.
Vasu and Lawrence had previously teamed up for the eponymous Tamil remake of the former’s big Kannada hit, Shivalinga. Raghava Lawrence is currently busy with Bollywood flick Laxmmi Bomb which has Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to hit the marquee on May 22 this year but due to the current lockdown situation, there are reports that the makers are in talks to have a direct release on Hotstar Disney+ OTT platform.
Laxmmi Bomb is the remake of the Tamil smash hit Kanchana, which was directed by Raghava Lawrence. It is a horror comedy and will mark the debut of Raghava Lawrence in Bollywood. The film is jointly produced by Akshay Kumar, Shabina Khan and Tusshar Kapoor under the banners Cape of Good Films, Tushar Entertainment House and Shabinaa Entertainment and Fox Star Studios.
