Kamal Haasan wins Henri Langloise award
Kamal Haasan has brought one more honour to Indian cinema, as the ‘Ulaga Nayagan’ has bagged the prestigious Henri Langloise award at a recent event in France.

“Received the Henri Langloise award in Paris . Wish Ananthu sir my guru had been alive to hear this. Heard of Langloise only through him,” Kamal posted on his microblogging page.

Langloise was a French film archivist and cinephile. A pioneer of film preservation, he was an influential figure in the history of cinema. His film screenings in Paris in the 1950s are often credited with providing the ideas that led to the development of the auteur theory.

In 1974, Langloise received an honorary Academy Award for “his devotion to the art of film, his massive contributions in preserving its past and his unswerving faith in its future”.
