Trust Malayalam stars to do things a bit differently, every time. Even though the Ice Bucket Challenge was a rage worldwide and even in other South film industries, no Malayalam actor had taken it up.

 A few days back, actor Fahadh Faasil declared on his social networking page that he was taking up the My Tree Challenge instead, where one plants a tree and challenges others to do the same.

The My Tree Challenge is an online eco revolution kick-started by two environment lovers, Abdul Manaf, an entrepreneur, and Imthias Kadeer, a travel photographer. Fahadh had challenged Mammootty and Mohanlal to take up the tree challenge, and now, Mammootty has not only taken up the challenge, but also posted a picture of himself planting a tree.

"As you all know, the ALS Ice bucket Challenge has gone viral in the online and offline media. I proudly kick-start a novel concept called 'My Tree Challenge'. I request all my friends from the Malayalam film industry and all Facebook friends to join in for the good cause and make this world a greener place to live in," he wrote, adding that My Tree Challenge is a motto which should be followed by all, so as to save our nature for ourselves and for our upcoming generation.

Besides asking everyone to plant and preserve trees, Mammootty has challenged Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay and Suriya to take up the My Tree Challenge. Let's wait and watch if the superstars will take it up and kick-start a real eco revolution!
