After the release of the movie, Producer cum Director M Muthuraman has approached the civil court to ban Aranmanai stating the story of the movie is taken from his movie Aayiram Jenmangal. He also added that no one has asked his permission to take the story and he himself has planned to remake this movie.
In his complaint, Muthuram has claimed that Aranmanai is the remake of his film, Aayiram Jenmangal. The yesteryear film had Rajinikanth, Vijayakumar and Latha in lead roles and did well at the box office. The director, in his petition, has stated that he’d been planning to remake the film, and had already roped in technicians to begin the spadework .
Following the complaint, an explanation has been sought from the producer – Vision I Media – and director Sundar C.
Earlier, on September 1, Muthuraman had approached the Producers’ Council regarding the same issue; but it was not acted upon.
Aranmanai released on September 19 to a fairly positive response. Distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin, the film features Hansika, Andrea, Raai Laxmi, Vinay and Santhanam.
When contacted, the makers and the publicist of the movie were unavailable for comment.
