Naanthan Bala directed by Kannan, has Vivek playing a serious role as a temple priest. Those who came to see Vivek and wish him included music maestro AR Rahman, veteran directors K Balachandar, Bharathiraja and Mani Ratnam.
Balachander was all praise for Vivek, as many years back during the shoot of one of his films Vivek for a scene could say a poem impromptu without any mugging. KB said: "Vivek is my sishya and a very intelligent guy, who can grasp things fast."
Bharathiraja said : " Vivek knows to make people laugh which is a very difficult thing to do on screen. I'm confident that Vivek and director Kannan will make Naanthan Bala a great success. Kannan comes from a family of great writers."
Mani Ratnam said: "I'm jealous of comedians like Vivek who can make people laugh and I like Viveks comedy as it is always laced with a message. I feel he has the potential to do a Woody Allan type of comedy film in Tamil."
AR Rahman said: "Just watching Viveks comedy on Youtube , I forget my worries. He should go beyond Tamil cinema and do something with a global appeal like Charlie Chaplin."
