It was Shah Rukh Khan who first put Chennai on the promotional map of his Chennai Express. The actor did a lungi dance using the sponsor's sari, and it clicked and had recall value among Tamil audiences.
And Chennai Express in Hindi and Tamil went on to become 2013's biggest blockbuster. Later Hrithik and his dad Rakesh Roshan came down to Chennai to promote Krrish 3, which too became a hit.
Now Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 is releasing in Hindi and Tamil on December 30. It has stiff competition from Jiiva's Endrendrum Punnagai and Karthi's Biriyani. Since Dhoom 3 is being released in Chennai through multiplex major Sathyam Cinemas, it has got best of screens and giving the Tamil films a run for money.
The lead stars of the upcoming installment of Dhoom franchise – Dhoom 3 Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Uday Chopra and the director of the film Vijay Krishna Acharya were present in Chennai on Tuesday evening, at a press meet for promoting their movie, which is releasing on December 20.
The team awed Chennai with their presence. The makers of the movie have lined up some innovative promotions for the film as they are looking at having an amazing opening for the movie, worldwide.
“Dhoom 3″ team flew to Chennai after completing the promotions of the film in Hyderabad. They came to Chennai in a chartered jet at around 6 pm and met the press at ITC Grand Chola at 6 pm, a place close to the airport.
Aamir Khan’s “Dhoom 3″ is one of the most-awaited films of 2013. In South, the “Dhoom” franchise is very popular. The second installment of the franchise, “Dhoom 2″, received good response from Tamil audience.
For this third installment too, Aamir Khan, who is known for best marketing skills, is doing his best to attract the Tamil audience, said industry insiders. It is no wonder that his Dhoom 3 is getting a huge reception in the state.
Dhoom 3 is distributed by Sathyam Group in Tamil Nadu and is releasing in a huge number of screens in the state. The screen count for the movie has already crossed 150 and it is expected to increase in the coming days.
Previously, Shahrukh Khan promoted “Chennai Express” aggressively in Chennai at an event organized by a leading silk sari shop. The actor also surprised the audience doing lungi dance, using the sponsor’s sari.
