Director Nalan Kumarasamy’s black comedy Soodhu Kavvum featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Sanchita Shetty and a host of newcomers has been the trendsetter of the year.

The film has got not only critical acclaim but also box-office success, which is rare.

The film marketed by Studio Green is a multiplex hit and may collect between Rs 5 to Rs 6 Crore from Tamil Nadu theatricals alone. It means Soodhu Kavvum will get its cost of production and marketing cost from theatricals alone.

Now the buzz is that the Hindi remake rights of this off-beat new cinema has been sold at a record price. KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green has tweeted “Soodhu Kavvum Hindi remake rights sold for a very big price, never heard for a Tamil film.”
