The May Day battle has started in earnest as all the three films due on that day – Moondru Per Moondru Kathal, Ethir Neechal and Soodhu Kavvum have started aggressive promotions across the medias.

All the three have backing of leading distributors and are trying to get as many screens as possible. The trouble is that there are not enough screens for the new releases. Last Friday (April 26) saw three Tamil releases and the Hollywood actioner Iron Man 3.

Iron Man 3 has become a runaway hit and has taken the best of screens in Tamil Nadu. Now the three May Day releases will have to fight for the remaining screens, to get that opening.

The business is going to be divided due to the large number of releases. May 1 releases are also crucial as Kollywood is still hunting for a summer hit.
