Silambarasan is playing the main lead in Vaalu, directed by Vijay Chander. Hansika is playing the female lead and Santhanam is playing a prominent role.

A single track composed by music director S.S.Thaman and crooned by STR was released on Valentine’s Day and was well received.

Vaalu shoot is almost complete except for few songs and climax portions. In all, another 20 days of filming are scheduled to take place but the Vaalu team is being held up by the absence of Santhanam. The ‘comedy super star’ is currently in Australia shooting for Vijay's Thalaivaa and after he returns, the climax portions of Vaalu would be shot. It seems there is a special comedy sequence featuring Simbu, Hansika and Santhanam in the climax and the director is eagerly waiting for ‘Santa’ to return back home. These sequences would be canned in a temple.

Vaalu is being planned for an August 15th release as of now after being initially slotted as a Diwali 2012 release.

Silambarasan is also busy shooting his next movie Vettai Mannan under Nelson’s direction. Hansika is pairing with STR for the second time and Jai, Deeksha Seth are playing the main leads and Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the tunes. Vaalu, Vettai Mannan are produced by S.S.Chakravarthy under Nic Arts.
