The film, however, was lauded by the critics for the debutant director’s sincerity and the decent portrayal of their respective roles by the lead cast and other prominent artistes.
Unfazed by the debacle of Krishnaveni Panjaalai, its makers are planning to make another film and are planning to rope in Mahendran as the director. Talks are also going on with veteran actor Sathyaraj to play a significant role in the film. Mahendran, who had completely come out of the dreaded habit of liquor intake, is said to have started scripting the film.
Veteran director Bharathiraaja, after wishing the producers good luck, is said to have recommended G.V. Prakash Kumar to be signed up as the film’s music diretor. GVP is the music director of Bharathiraja’s upcoming film Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum whose audio was launched some time back.
It appears that the veteran director’s words are being taken seriously by the makers of the Mahendran film as they have initiated talks with GVP to work for them.
Mahendran is considered by many as a maverick who made films in the most realistic manner. His scripts would toe the line of the audiences’ day-today lives and this is the most striking feature which endeared him to millions of fans. Among the few films that Mahendran has made as on date, a couple of films viz. Mullum Malarum and Johnny starring superstar Rajinikanth are still loved by movie-goers even after 30 years.
