Kamal Haasan's controversial Vishwaroopam after clearing all hurdles is finally releasing in his home state of Tamil Nadu Today (Feb ...
The film which was banned in TN, a day before its worldwide release on January 25 is expected to take a humongous opening.
Vishwaroopam is likely to release in nearly 600 screens across Tamil Nadu. The advance booking for the film in key towns in the state and Chennai city has been very good. In NSC (North-South Arcot-Chengalpet) and Chennai city areas, the distributor Aascar Ravichandran is releasing in nearly 150 screens, the highest ever screen count for any film in the terriotary
Archana Kalpathi , CEO of AGS Cinemas said : " The response to Vishwaroopam is fantastic. We are sold out for the opening weekend at both our multiplexes in Vilivakkam and OMR."
Vishwaroopam has an 'UA' certificate, so there will be the 30% entertainment tax for the film, which will affect its total net. The state government gives tax exemption only to films which have been certified by the censors with an 'U' certificate. So more number of screens will ensure a bigger opening and larger net collections.
There is a lot of goodwill for Kamal Haasan among Tamil Nadu audiences, after the hell the actor went through trying to release the film. How fast Kamal Haasan is able to recoup his losses for the two week delay in TN will depend on the kind of opening the film garners in its opening weekend.
