Kamal Haasan by his announcement that he has booked 300 screens for Vishwaroopam , has made the Pongal battle interesting.

All films which have announced a Pongal release are feeling the heat.

Kamal Haasan will kick-start the Pongal season with the release of his Vishwaroopam on DTH on the night of 10 January followed by its theatrical release on 11 January.

At the Airtel DTH press meet Kamal said he has made booking for 300 plus screens and is pushing for 400!

Studio Green has already booked 300 plus prime screens for their Karthi starrer Alex Pandian. The film is scheduled to release on January 12 worldwide in Tamil and in Telugu as Bad Boy.

Meanwhile Red Giants has quietly booked over 200 screens for Santhanam's debut film as producer Kanna Laddu Thinna Asai, which is scheduled to release on January 13.

Vishal's Samar which is being advertised as Pongal release is unlikely to release for the festival due to financial problems. Theatres are insisting on 'no dues' assurance from producers, if it has to be given a booking!
