Santhanam is all set to take us on a comic journey with his maiden production Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya (KLTA), produced by his Handmade Films and Rama Narayanan’s Thenandal Films.
Says Santhanam about KLTA, “I always wanted to make a comedy like Hangover and when Rama Narayanan approached me for a film, I told him that I had written a comedy script and the story was about three guys falling in love with the same girl. And we decided to make it together.”

KLTA stars Santhanam, Power Star Srinivasan and Sethu, who is Santhanam’s friend, and Vishaka. Sethu, he reveals, is actually a doctor. “When Sethu was studying in college, I had become a TV actor. He told me that when I become a big star he wanted to work in a film – that was his dream. And I decided to fulfill that dream with this film,” smiles Santhanam.

Sethu on his part says, “The acting experience was totally new. Santhanam was there to guide me and it wasn’t like acting – it was like how we would behave normally. It was a comfortable team to work with.” And how was it sharing the screen with Power Star? “It was powerful,” laughs Sethu. “I always wanted to meet him and it was exciting to work with him. It was nice having him as a co-star; he is quite funny.”

As for how Santhanam roped in Power Star, the comedian says with a laugh, “I went and met him and I felt he had an expression for whatever punch dialogue I had in mind. I was very happy he came on board,” he says. As for what one can expect in KLTA, it is comedy, punch dialogues and the opportunity to see Santhanam and Power Star shake a leg together in a kuthu number!

Though the movie stars some newcomers and has a debut director, K S Manikandan, Santhanam says they have not scrimped on the budget and made sure they have given the audience a quality film. “The music is by Thaman and the movie has come out well. I am sure the audiences will love it,” says Santhanam with confidence. This Pongal treat from Santhanam is sure to be a delicious one for the audience!
