'Aadhibhagavan' under title controversy

'Aadhibhagavan' title on controversy
After Muslims protested over Kamal Hassan's magnum opus 'Viswaroopam', yet another film, slated for release very soon, has courted controversy over its title, which, an advocate claimed, 'has hurt the sentiments of the Hindus.'

Advocate Krishnamurthy today petitioned the Chennai City Police Commissioner seeking to stall the release of Director Ameer's forthcoming film 'Aadhibhagavan' alleging it had some dialogues and scenes that hurt the sentiments of Hindus. In the complaint, he claimed the title 'Aadhibhagavan' had special significance in Hindu culture. "Giving such a title for a movie had hurt the sentiments of Hindus,", he said, adding, the movie should be renamed.

Mr Krishnamurthy contended the movie had some scenes that showed Hindu temples and some castes in bad light. "If the movie was allowed to be released, it would create social disharmony and also law and order issues in the State", he said, adding, the film should be released only after it was screened before leaders of Hindu outfits and an NOC obtained from them. Meanwhile, Producer of the movie J Anbazhagan, who is also the DMK MLA, has tweeted on the issue.

"Pople who complain against the film, will certainly watch the movie more than two times for the sake of its wonderful story." 'The title was inspired by first couplet of Tirukkural--'Agara Muthale Ezhuthellam Aadhibhagavan Mudhatre Ulagu.' 'We are here to entertain everyone and not to hurt anyone", he said.
