Kumki’s strong Opening weekend Box-Office Collections

Prabhu Solomon directed Kumki is a mega hit! According to trade sources, all the distributors who had bought the film on MG basis will recover their money within 10 days' time; thanks to the mad rush among the movie buffs to see this film.

The net collections of this film, in Tamil Nadu alone, on December 14th were 3.63 crores and for the second day it was Rs 3.25 crores. With the total collections amounting to Rs. 6.88 crores for the first two days, there is a strong indication that the collections would go up in the days to come with a good word of mouth spreading about Kumki.

The film starring, Vikram Prabhu and Lakshmi Menon as the lead pair, is produced by N Lingusamy's Thirrupathi Brothers and distributed by KE Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green.

Debutant Vikram Prabhu's Tamil romantic-drama "Kumki" has raked in Rs.8.51 crore at the box-office in the first three days in Tamil Nadu.

"The film (Kumki) collected Rs.8.51 crore at the box-office in Tamil Nadu in the first three days, making it a dream start for debutant Vikram Prabhu," Trinath, trade analyst, said.

Directed by Prabhu Solomon, "Kumki", which came out Dec 14 and hit over 1,000 screens worldwide, shows how a mahout and his elephant help farmers in driving away wild elephants in their village.

Besides Vikram Prabhu, it also stars Lakshmi Menon, Thambi Ramaiah and Asvin Raja in the lead.

Shot in exotic locales of Karnataka and Kerala, "Kumki" was dubbed in Telugu as "Gajaraju", but didn't release on the same day due to lack of screens.

The film, produced by "Thirupathi Borthers", has music by D. Imman and cinematography by Sukumar.
