Kamal Haasan’s magnum opus Viswaroopam release date is pushed to January 2013, as the actor, director and producer Kamal Haasan wanted to adopt Auro 3D audio technology for his film.
Kamal Haasan has confirmed to a Bollywood site that his PVP Cinemas produced Viswaroopam will release only in January 2013. The reason touted out by Kamal is that it has been postponed to facilitate the revolutionary Auro 3D sound format into the film.
Vishwaroopam is reportedly the world’s second movie to adopt this latest sound technique Auro 3D, while Hollywood film George Lucas' Red Tail records the first. In a recent interview Kamal said,
Kamal is making the film in Hindi as Viswaroop and in Tamil as Viswaroopam. He wants a simultaneous release of both the films. Only one film in the world George Lucas’s Red Tails, has made use of the Auro 3D technique so far. Kamal Haasan wants to be the first Indian director and producer to use Auro 3D.
Now that Kamal himself has confirmed a January release for Viswaroopam, it will also give him more time to find an all –India buyer for the film.

“Yes, we’re converting Viswaroopam to Auro 3D. Wilfred Van Baelen is here to help us get the format right and it is not as complicated as sounds. When we have sound conversions from mono to stereophonic, followed by Dolby sound people enjoyed them. And now we have Auro 3D, which is so far been tried only in George Lucas’ Red Tail and I’m glad we’re second to Lucas.”Further he added, “I needed 3D effect in sound because my film has a lot of overhead fighter planes and other sound-driven visuals.” Shankar-Ehassan-Loy has composed the music scores for Viswaroopam under the production house Rajkamal International banner along with PVP Cinemas that has cinematography by Sanu Varghese and editing by Mahesh Narayan among the technical crew. Pooja Hedge and Andrea Jeremiah are playing the female leads for Viswaroopam
