It’s not only Maestro Ilaiyaraaja who is over-shadowing everyone else in Kollywood with his musical feats; even the Maestro’s children haven’t been far behind. His eldest son Karthick Raja is an acclaimed music director.
Younger son Yuvan Shankar Raja is already among the top five music directors in Kollywood, churning out hit songs at quick intervals, much to the delight of youths.

Ilaiyaraaja’s only daughter Bhavatharini doesn’t lag behind either. The diminutive Bhavatharini won the national award for ‘best female playback singer’ with her rendering of the ever-melodious number Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu….from the film Bharathi almost a decade back. She is now set to make a re-entry in Kollywood as music director.

Bhavatharini has sung many popular songs and has also scored music for a few films. She was on a self-imposed exile from Kollywood and is now set for a return to Tamil films by agreeing to score the music of the upcoming film titled Vellachi which is to be shot entirely in a rural backdrop. Pindu, son of comedian Pandu, is all set to make his debut as hero in Kollywood with Vellachi.

Pindu was earlier spotted in the film Pattalam which had the forever good-looking Nadhiya playing a teacher. Pindu played one of the students in the film. In Vellachi, though, he plays the sole hero opposite Sujitha Unni, another debutant. Comedian ‘Ganja’ Karuppu has agreed to make a ‘special appearance’ in the film.

The film’s script is set against the backdrop of a typical village in the State and would be directed by Velu Viswanathan. Bhavatharini has scored the music of the film which started its shooting schedule in June. Sources close to the director say that the film’s shoot has reached its final stage.
