Actor-director Karu Pazhaniyappan was in his elements when he took the mike at the audio-launch of an upcoming film titled Amara.
The film, staring newcomers Amaran and Sonu in the lead, has been directed by Jeevan. Directors K. Bhagyaraj, Vetrimaran and Prabhu Solomon and producer Kaliapuli Sekaran were among others who took part at the event held at Sathyam Cinemas in the city.
After praising the efforts of the director and the film’s technical crew, Pazhaniyappan’s talk took a different route. “I’d squarely blame UTV’s Dhananjayan for the sorry state of affairs prevailing in Tamil cinema at present. He’s the one who has been consciously undoing all the hardwork of many great directors and film-makers.
“Dhananjayan had recently issued a one-page advertisement for the film Mugamudi produced by UTV Motion Pictures, breaching the agreement that the advertisements in the print media shouldn’t exceed half-a-page. He casually says he was only following the trend in Bollywood where one-page ads are very common. Let him give such one-page ads in Hindi magazines and newspapers and not in Tamil journals.
“He is a very high-headed person and simply makes money by taking up films which have come out very well. Filmmakers like us, who make good films but don’t have the marketing wherewithal like the one Dhananjayan has, are toiling and suffering as always. I earnestly hope Jeevan’s simple film does one better than Dhananjayan’s ‘expensive’ film,” concluded Pazhyaniyappan.
