Reports say that twin-Oscar winner and music wizard A.R. Rahman is all set to make his presence felt at the ensuing Olympics in a big way....
Rahman has reportedly composed a Punjabi song which he would also be performing live at the inaugural ceremony of the London Olympics which gets underway later this month.
It was earlier reported that an old song, composed by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja for a Kamal-starrer Raam Lakshman (penned by Vaali and sung by SPB), would be played out during the inaugural ceremony. The said song in question is the Naandhaan Ungoppanda number in the film.
Danny Boyle, who directed Slumdog Millionnaire which won for Rahman his coveted Oscars, happens to be he president of the inaugural ceremony’s organizing committee. He wanted Rahman to compose a ‘special’ song in the eve of the inauguration of the Olympics. The Punjabi song takes note of the significant contribution made by the immigrant Indians to the progress of England.
Rahman’s PRO has said “It’s true that Rahman has composed a special song which would be played out live at the Olympics. This would be the third time Boyle and Rahman would be working as they also came together for the thriller film 127 Hours.”
