Actress Anjali has taken rapid strides in establishing herself firmly as an actress with 'substance' in Kollywood.
The actress has had back-to-back hits in the form of Mankatha and Engeyum Eppodhum this year. Her Thambi Vettothi Sundaram opposite Karan, though, did only average business but showcased her acting prowess aptly. She also reasonable hit films in Thoonga Nagaram and Karungaali.

With as many as six releases (including Maharaaja which is slated to hit the screens tomorrow) to her credit this year, Anjali is easily the actress with the maximum number of films in 2011. She is earnestly hoping that 2012 turns out to be an equally successful year if not better than the present year. She had to come out of a controversy surrounding her reported 'affair' with her Engeyum Eppodhum co-star Jai and did so with conviction.

Anjali doesn't bother much about her co-star or hero. Script is what matters mostly to her prior to taking up a film offer. In Magizchi, Karaungaali, Rettaichuzhi and the successful Angaadi Theru, she paired up with relative newcomers and is willing to do so in future too. "I always ensure that my role is substantial in the film. I don't bother much about co-stars. Whether it's an established hero or a newcomer, I'd take up a project only if I like the script," clarifies Anjali.

Anjali now plays Vikram's heroine in his upcoming period flick Karikalan. Though Vikram is one of the leading heroes, Anjali didn't think twice in taking up another project which was to pair her up opposite a newcomer Madhan in an untitled film. Madhan, incidentally, is said to be the nephew of popular Telugu star Dr. Rajkasekar.
