Ajith's much awaited Billa 2, directed by Chakri Toleti, is likely to hit screens on April 14, 2012, Tamil New Year day. A portion of this film is likely to be shot in Russia. There are also reports that the team will soon launch a Billa 2 logo contest where the public can send their entries.

This prequel is produced under the banner of Wide Angle Creations (led by George Pious and Suresh Balaje, son of producer-actor K. Balaje, who produced the original Billa with Rajinikanth in 1980) and presented by Mumbai based Sunir Kheterpal, CEO of IN Entertainment (India) Limited, part of the Hinduja Group. Bollywood star Sudhanshu Pandey, Bruna Abdullah and Malayalam actor Manoj K. Jayan will play prominent roles in this film, made with a whopping budget of Rs. 35 crores. Billa 2's technical team includes cinematographer Hemant Chaturvedi, editor Sreekar Prasad and music director Yuvan Shankar Raja.
