The huge success of Vijay Awards for the past four years has made the organizers come out with Vijay Awards for 2011 as well. The award show, a first of its kind in South India, lets the common man vote for his favourite stars and films. As part of the ground activity, a mobile van (Rasigan Express) would travel to the key cities in Tamil Nadu over a period of two weeks, getting viewers to nominate their favourite hero, heroine, director and film.

The flag off of the Rasigan Express will be held at Chennai on June 01, 2011 at AVM Studios. Film maker S.A. Chandrasekar, producer AVM Saravanan and R. Sarathkumar, president, South Indian Film Artists' Association, will take part in the event. The jury members for the Fifth Annual Vijay Awards comprises Yugi Sethu, actors Radhikaa Sarathkumar, Karthik, director A. R. Murugadoss and cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran.

Vijay TV has already begun to air the promotional episodes of Vijay Awards from Monday to Friday at 2030 hrs.
