Kandaen, directed by A.C. Mugil (who assisted Prabhu Deva in Pokkiri and Engeyum Kaadhal), is all set to grace theatres on May 20, 2011. The film has recently received a clean 'U' certificate from the Censor Board. The film stars Shanthnoo, Santhanam and newcomer Reshma in the lead roles. Vijay Ebenezer, an associate of Harris Jayaraj, has composed its music. For the first time, comedian Santhanam will have an on screen pair: newcomer Nimmi. In this family entertainer, Vijayakumar plays Shanthnoo's grandfather. Both have contrasting opinions on issues, which results in problems; this is the crux of the story.
