Sonu Sood: Villain in Rajinikanth’s Rana
With the colossal success of Dabangg, film makers and renowned thespians have noticed the villainous swagger that Sonu Sood possesses on screen. One such actor to take notice of it is none other than Rajinikanth. Sonu is all set to make waves again in a trilingual film along with the legend.
According to our sources, after Rajinikanth saw Sonu as Cheddi Singh in Dabangg and Pashupati in the Tamil hit Arundhati, he was keen to cast him is the much-coveted negative role for his Hindi-Tamil-Telugu trilingual Rana.
Rana is said to be a period-action film based on the lines of the famous Hollywood blockbuster 300. Directed by K.S. Ravi Kumar of Muthu and Narasimha fame, the film is to be shot in India and abroad with foreign technicians on board.
Hyped as the most expensive Indian film ever made, it is being co-produced by Eros International and Ocher Studios, the production house run by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya. Deepika Padukone is the leading lady, and the film’s music will be contributed by A.R. Rahman. Ratnavelu of Robot fame will return as cinematographer for the trilingual film.
On being selected as the villain for Rajinikanth’s next, Sonu said he feels blessed that a small town boy with no film background will work with the legend that he has grown up idolizing and that he can’t wait for the camera to roll.
In the meantime, work on the script of Dabangg 2 is underway and production of the film is expected to go on floors by this year-end. The sequel is set to have Cheddi’s twin avenge his death.
