Music: G.V. Prakash
Lyrics: Snegan, Yegathasi Yugabharathi, VIS Jayapalan, Yogi B
G.V. Prakash leaps high with the most captivating music in ‘Aadukalam’. For sure, this will be one of the greatest piece of work from the young music director. He has well suited to the backdrops of Madurai. The album of ‘Aadukalam’ has 7 tracks including a reprise of Rap version.
1. Yaathe Yaathe
Vocal: G.V. Prakash
Lyrics: Sneghan
A typical folk based romantic solo that expresses the extreme praises of a guy for his beautiful girl. In the recent times, G.V. Prakash seems to taking on more songs with his vocalisms. Well, this one is the best of his recent works. The beats are so mild with best choruses. He defines a newfangled music that doesn’t carry any traces. However, there is a slight relevance with Yuvan Shankar Raja’s ‘Aravadhu Aayiduchu’ track in ‘Mounam Pesiyadhe’. This will be one of the best songs of this year. At the some parts, G.V’s voice sounds similar to that off Simbhu.
2. Otha Sollaala
Vocal: Vel Murugan
Lyrics: Yegathasi
Best pick of this album as it lets you engaged right on the first time of hearing. A fantastic Kuthu beat with the lyrics focalizing on the same theme as before. It typically suits to ‘Madurai Touch’. Vel Murugan makes an impressive show with his rendition and sounds more apt for Dhanush. G.V. Prakash avoids the usual instrumentals that would be utilized for such numbers. The fans of Dhanush can now look out for a big fiesta of dance from Dhanush.
3. Porkalam Tamil Rap
Vocal: Yogi B
Lyrics: Yugabharathy
A harsh loud rap of Yogi B… It’s quite peculiar why a rap song is added, though unwanted. It’s a song about a group’s must-win motto and Yogi B yells out of his highest pitch. Maybe, the visuals should have a better significance for the film. There’s a special mention as ‘Vettaikaran’ team. The guitars and computerized disc-works sounds great on best surround systems.
4. En Vennilave
Vocal: Kay Kay
Lyrics: VIS Jayapalan
Pathos in a slow-paced tempo and Kay Kay and is tuned in a typical Ghazal-style, which is often not found in Tamil music. The beats are so simple and G.V. Prakash lays more prominence KK’s voice.
5. Ayyayo
Vocals: SP Balasubramaniam, SPB Charan & Prashanthini
Lyrics: Sneghan
A splendiferous number that happens to be the only duet in this album… both SP Balasubramaniam and his son SPB Charan render the song and it sounds like a dual voice orchestration. Prashanthini is superb as she spells the lines with best clarity. A unparalleled number that would grab the interests of Ilayaraja fans so easily.
6. Warriors English Rap
Vocals: Yogi B
Lyrics: Yogi B
The track is nothing but a reprise of ‘Porkalam’ with English lyrics. Yogi B has penned the lyrics and crooned it. The beats and bass works are given more importance compared to its previous version.
7. A Love Blossoms
Vocals: Navin Iyer
The signature song signifying the blossoms of love and has the exact feel extracted from the first number of ‘Yaathe Yaathe’. ‘Aadukalam’ is sure to sell like hotcakes for its unique music. It has ingredients to draw the listeners as GV Prakash tries his hand on different genres.
