Veteran actress B Saroja Devi, who had shared the screen space with legends like Sivaji Ganesan and MGR, has been chosen for the prestigious Dr Rajkumar award by the Karnataka government for her contribution to tinsel world.

Lakshmi has been selected as the best female supporting actress for her performance in ‘Vamshi’, while Girish Karnad was selected for the Puttanna Kanagal award for his lifetime achievement in cinema.

Announcing the awards in Bengaluru on Friday, the Chairman of the Karnataka government appointed committee to select films for 2008-09 awards Dr Bhargava, a well-known director, told reporters that 'Kabaddi' has been adjudged the best film and Yogesh best actor for his performance in 'Ambari’.
