Earlier it was Vaali and now it is Vairamuthu’s turn to be honoured for his work in Tamil film industry. Vairamuthu, the poet and well known lyricist has penned over 7000 songs and has written novels too. He started his journey way back in the 80′s and is still among the list of favourite lyricists.

His debut song was Ponmalai Pozhudhu for Nizhalgal and his latest song is Arima Arima for 'Endhiran'. He has penned lyrics for almost all the music directors starting from Ilayaraja’s period. It is very difficult to recollect his best creations so, Vairamuthu is coming out with a collection of 1000 songs which is considered to be his greatest hits.
The 1000 songs collection pack will be released in a CD by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan will receive the same. The event will be held on January 2, 2010 in Chennai in a grand manner. Moreover eminent personalities like K. Balachander, Bharathiraja, Mani Ratnam, Shankar, MS Viswanathan, Vaali, AR Rahman, FEFSI Chief VC Guhanathan and other renowned personalities will mark their presence at the event.
