After being remade in Telugu as Vaana and in Bengali as Premer Kahini, Kannada Golden actor Ganesh's Mungaru Male (2006), directed by Yograj Bhat and produced by E. Krishnappa with Pooja Gandhi as the heroine, is now being considered for a Tamil remake.
Ganesh will reportedly play the lead in the Tamil version as well, thus making his debut in Kollywood. The Tamil remake rights were acquired by Suryaprakash Rao of SPR Entertainers India Private Limited for Rs. 1.5 crores. More details about the director, heroine and other crew members are awaited.
The first film in India to be screened continuously for one year in a multiplex, Mungaru Male ran 400 days in Karnataka, crossing Rs. 75 crores at the box office. Mungaru Male won seven State awards, including the best film in 2006, besides winning Filmfare awards for best music (Mano Murthy) and best direction (Yograj Bhat).
