‘Mirchi’ Siva, who debuted as an actor in director Venkatprabhu’s ‘Chennai 600 028’, was later seen in ‘Saroja’ by the same director. Though both the films did well at box-office, unfortunately, Siva wasn’t getting many offers after the first two films. Lady Luck smile beautifully at him when he was cast as the solo hero in the spoof ‘Tamizhpadam’ produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri.
The film, a first full-length spoof ridiculing many of the clichéd sequences in Tamil films one has been witnessing for the past many years including the ‘opening song’ for the hero in films, has become a runaway hit as it has caught the imagination of the movie-goers in a big way. The unexpected hit has made Siva a ‘hot property’ in Kollywood, where a hero/heroine’s career is either made or ruined every Friday.
Within the first week of the release of ‘Tamizhpadam’, producers who approached Siva for their films were quoted a fee of Rs.25 lakhs. Now that the film is in its third week and appears good for a few more weeks at the box-office, Siva has reportedly hiked his fee to Rs.30 lakhs.
A 'True' tamil hero in the making?!
