A meeting of the recently constituted welfare board for employees of the film industry was held in Chennai on Tuesday.
Chaired by Tamil Nadu Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi, the meeting was attended by actor Sivakumar, director S P Muthuraman, Revenue Secretary K Dhanavel and Director of Information and Public Relations C Kamaraj among others.
The meeting discussed the problems faced by the industry and various welfare measures to be implemented by the board for the benefit of the film employees. The board was set up following an announcement by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
Speaking at a conclave organised by the Film Employees Federation of South India in Chennai recently, the Chief Minister also assured of setting up a township for the members of the federation.
As assured, land for the project was selected on the Old Mahabalipuram Road. Implementation of the project too was discussed during Tuesday’s meeting, it is said.
