Going by the trade reports both Veeram and Jilla are giving a tough fight to each other at the box office.This year has started with a bright note for the film traders as both Jilla and Veeram have done a good business and has been declared hits. Even though the difference between the collections of the films are marginal, Jilla has collected more than Veeram in the worldwide collections chart.
But, when considering the Chennai box-office alone, the collections have been excellent for both the films. The two big movies Ilayathalapathy Vijay`s Jilla and Thala Ajith`s Veeram have been making merry. Both the films have taken to a huge opening in Chennai and continue to perform well. Both these films dominated nearly 85 % of the screens and shows in Chennai city.

In case of worldwide box office report, Jilla leads Veeram in Kerala by more than 5 crores which is the major contributer in the worldwide lead.Pongal Winner: Veeram or Jilla?

“Jilla” was leading “Veeram” at the end of the first weekend (10 to 12 January) in Chennai. For everybody’s surprise, Jilla is doing a very good business and the producer is very happy by making Rs 100 crores in first eight of days.jilla now having crosed 100 cr despite negative review by vested interest thanks to star power of vijay. vijay jilla is extremely doing well in all the ares thru world and despite opposition by kazhgams public has stood with vijay and made the film kill blockbuster hit.
Veeram has reported that the movie made a collection of about Rs 31 crores within India itself. Comparing with Jilla, in several areas Veeram was screened in equal number of theaters, and now, finding the reach of the movie – thanks to media – Veeram is getting released in additional theaters by replacing the existing ones like Tamil dubbed other language movies. A telugu movie which was released in Tamil Nadu in this Pongal season was the worst affected.

Jilla - The first 2014 flop movie. The box office matters for the distributors, producers. It doesn't matter for the audience & fans. i m a vijay fan but truely i say except tamilnadu jilla leads(overseas) but in tamilnadu veeram leads. as an ordinary cinema fan i expect quality film from vijay like nanban , sachin . those kind of films . this time ajith could have taken lead in tamilnadu but we ll come with vijay a.r.murugadass combo. we ll rock next time surely in tamilnadu. now u can enjoy ajith fans ... but see next time

ஆனால் ‘ஜில்லா’ படத்தின் அதிகாரப்பூர்வமான ட்விட்டர் அக்கவுண்ட்டில் ஒரே வாரத்துக்குள் 100 கோடி ரூபாயை ‘ஜில்லா’ வசூல் செய்து விட்டது என்று ஒரு பெரிய சைஸ் போஸ்டரை டிசன் செய்து வெளியிட்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.
இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்ட தயாரிப்பாளர் ஆர்.பி.செளத்ரியோ இப்போது உச்சக்கட்ட கோபத்தில் இருப்பதாக தெரிகிறது.
பொதுவாக ஒரு படம் ரூ 100 கோடி வசூலைத் தொட வேண்டுமென்றால், உலகம் முழுக்க 3500 தியேட்டர்களில் ரிலீசாகி ஒரு வாரத்துக்கு மேல் ஹவுஸ்புல் காட்சிகளாக ஓடியிருக்க வேண்டும். அப்போதுதான் இந்த 100 கோடி வசூல் சாத்தியமாகும்.
ஆனால் விஜய்யின் ‘ஜில்லா’ படமோ அதிகபட்சமாக 1200 அரங்குகளில்தான் ரிலீஸ் செய்யப்பட்டதாக தயாரிப்பாளர் ஆர்.பி.செளத்ரி குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். படத்தை வாங்கிய டிஸ்ட்ரிபியூட்டர்களோ, 1075 அரங்குகளில்தான் ஜில்லாவை ரிலீஸ் செய்ததாக குறியுள்ளனர்.
ஆக இத்தனை குறைந்த தியேட்டர்களில் ரிலீஸ் செய்து விட்டு எப்படி ரூ 100 கோடி ரூபாயை ஒரே வாரத்தில் வசூல் செய்ய முடியும்? என்பதே நடுநிலையாளர்களின் கேள்வியாக உள்ளது.
அதனால் தான் இந்த விஷயத்தைக் கேள்விப்பட்ட தயாரிப்பாளர் ஆர்.பி.செளத்ரி இப்படி இல்லாத வசூலை போஸ்டர் அடிச்சி ஒட்டினா நாளைக்கு இன்கம்டாக்ஸ்காரங்க கேள்வி மேல கேள்வி கேட்டா நான் என்ன பதில் சொல்றது? எதுக்கு விஜய் அன்கோ மீது செமக்கடுப்பில் இருக்கிறாராம்.
