The Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Silambarasan is going to do the Tamil remake of Ranbir Kapoor's critically acclaimed box-office hit Barfi.
There is plan for remake of Hindi blockbuster movie Barfi in Tamil.  In Hindi movie Barfi, Ranbeer Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana have done roles.  Since movie Barfi is considered one among excellent movies released in India. Anurag Basu directed film has been chosen as India's entry for the Oscar's in the 'Best Foreign Film' Category.

Barfi is also a super hit in Tamil Nadu where such 'serious' Hindi films normally does not have an audience. It is to be noted that the Hindi movie heaped huge collection. UTV Motion Pictures the producers of Barfi are toying with the idea of doing the remake as they feel it has enough human emotions and may work with the Tamil audiences. It would make commercial sense to them as they hold the remake rights.

It is reported that Simbu would do Ranbeer Kapoor’s character.  When asked with Simbu, he replied:-

" Barfi is one of the best films I have seen in a long, long time, in fact I saw it twice. It is straight from the heart and should work big time in Tamil as human emotions are the same. It is early days to take a call on whether I would be doing the remake."

Remember UTV is just finishing their super hit adult comedy Delhi Belly remake in Tamil titled Settai with Arya, Hansika, Santhanam, Anjali and premgi directed by Kannan.
