The visit of South India superstar, Mr Rajnikanth, and his family members to Tirumala was marked by high drama on Wednesday. There was expectation in Tirupati since morning that the superstar’s family would be visiting the hill shrine.
The visit of South India superstar, Mr Rajnikanth, and his family members to Tirumala was marked by high drama on Wednesday. There was expectation in Tirupati since morning that the superstar’s family would be visiting the hill shrine.
Unnoticed, the superstar’s entourage checked into a star hotel opposite the APSRTC bus station at around 4 pm after reaching Tirupati by road from Chennai. When media rushed to the spot, security personnel and hotel staff did not allow them to meet Mr Rajnikanth.
After an hour, Mr Rajnikanth emerged from his suite and spoke to the media while leaving for Tirumala.
“I am thankful to all my fans who prayed for me while I was undergoing treatment. By the grace of God, I am fine now and took part in the shoot of Ra-One. Doctors advised me to rest for another three months before I resume shooting for Rana. This is a thanksgiving visit to the Lord. My Deepavali wishes to all,” Mr Rajni said, looking cool and composed.
Legendary actor Rajinikanth and his family today visited the temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala.
This was the superstar's first visit to the temple after he returned from prolonged treatment in Singapore.
Temple authorities said that the superstar weighed himself in Kalakund (sweet) inside the temple as part of the rituals.
Earlier, actor M. Mohan Babu made foolproof arrangements for the family’s visit to Tirumala. Four guest houses were kept ready for the superstar’s family at Tirumala.
In the evening, at Tirumala, the media was confused when TTD officials said that the superstar would be driving straight to the guest house.
Mr Rajnikanth, accompanied by Mr Mohan Babu reached the Mahadwaram point of the Tirumala temple, and checked inside through a separate gate usually used by TTD staff. The entourage, consisting of about 10 members, included Rajni’s wife Latha, daughters Aishwarya, Soundarya, sons-in-laws Ashwin and Danush, and entered the temple through the Vaikuntam queue complex.
In all, the entourage spent about half-an-hour inside the temple during the VIP break. Emerging from the temple, the superstar was closely guarded and the entourage quickly left the venue. A huge turnout of devotees, particularly from Tamil Nadu, thronged the temple zone to have a glimpse of the superstar, but in vain.
